Is the smallest unit of matter as a recognized by chemical properties of molecules
The smalles unit of a matter as recognized by chemical properties of molecules is called an atom.
The atom is the building block of matter in chemistry. This is the reason why elements have their own set of characteristics either different or similar to one another. Atoms contain three smaller units, namely the electron which lies on the outer part, and the nucleus which can be further divided into neutron which has no charge, and the proton which has a positive charge. These three define the characteristics of an atom. The atom is arranged by atomic number (total number of protons and neutrons in an atom) in the periodic table of elements. All of the current known elements are placed in that table.
